From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. Germany international midfielder Michael Ballack says that he will make a decision where he will play his football next season within the next two weeks.

The 33-year-old was allowed to leave Chelsea at the end of last season, while he is currently sitting out the World Cup finals in South Africa due to an ankle injury.

Ballack has been linked with a number of clubs back in his homeland, including former employers Bayer Leverkusen, while Sevilla are also rumoured to be an interested party.

"I am able to confirm that I am going to make up my mind quickly," Ballack told Bild. "There will be a decision on my future in the next two weeks."

Ballack spent four seasons with Chelsea, having made his name in the Bundesliga with first Bayer Leverkusen and then Bayern Munich.
