Van Persie departed for Manchester United in a £24m deal while Song joined Barcelona for £15m as Arsenal endured yet another summer when leading players departed the club.
The previous year saw Cesc Fabregas exit the Emirates, also for Barcelona, and Gael Clichy and Samir Nasri join Manchester City, and the latest sales have concerned Sagna.
"Everyone was expecting Robin Van Persie to leave, but Alex Song, that was a surprise. I don't understand that at all. It is a big loss for the club," the French full-back told L'Equipe.
"When you see two of the best players from last season leave, you ask a lot of questions. I understand why the supporters are nervous."
Sagna signed from Auxerre five years ago and is yet to win a trophy in north London. Worryingly for Arsenal supporters, the 29-year-old sees the benefits of a move.
"I am the only starting player left from 2007. In May, I watched City's parade on TV. I saw Samir and Gael lift the trophy. I want that [feeling]."
Sagna will be entering the final year of his contract next summer, and although Arsenal have recently found themselves in poor negotiating positions due to the remaining amount of time on players' contracts, the Frenchman is yet to hold talks over an extension.
He said: "For the moment, I want to play with Arsenal, and find my level again."
Sagna is currently recovering from a broken leg, but is expected to return to action early next month.
