From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. Andrey Arshavin admits it is getting harder to believe Arsenal can still win the Barclays Premier League - but remains hopeful the Gunners can turn things around with results against Chelsea and Liverpool.

Arsene Wenger's men simply had no answer to Manchester United as the defending champions romped to a 3-1 win at Emirates Stadium yesterday.

The defeat - a fifth in the Barclays Premier League - leaves the Gunners five points behind Chelsea, who also won in north London at the end of November.

If the Blues beat Hull in their re-arranged midweek fixture, then Arsenal will again be faced with clawing back a significant deficit.

However, Arshavin - who had looked lively early on against United - feels the Gunners must now regroup as they prepare for Sunday's trip to Stamford Bridge.

"It is getting even harder to believe that we can win first place after such defeats," the Russian said on his personal website, www.arshavin.eu.

"I divide the games with Aston Villa, Man United, Chelsea and Liverpool into two parts - the first part has been held, there are still two more games, I hope we will conduct them better."
