Arsene Wenger is reportedly on the verge of committing his future to Arsenal with a new contract at the Emirates.

The Frenchman has guided the Gunners to the top of the Premier League this season alongside securing safe passage to the knock-out round of the Champions League.

According to The Sun, Wenger - who has been manager for almost 20 years - has started drawing up plans for the next era with an off-field overhaul of the scouting network.

Steve Rowley, Arsenal’s chief scout for most of that time, has recently been promoted to head of scouting as the north Londoners eye a series of appointments to the recruitment team.

The 66-year-old has won nine major trophies in the capital, including three Premier League successes in 1998, 2002 and 2004, while leading the club to six FA Cup triumphs.

Wenger oversaw the move from Highbury to the Emirates Stadium in 2006 and managed the side under tight financial restraints as they paid back the £470m construction costs.
