From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. Arsene Wenger maintains it is too soon to speculate how long Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas will be sidelined by a hamstring problem.

The Gunners skipper suffered the injury as he netted a freak goal at Sunderland on Saturday, the ball kicked into him by Anton Ferdinand and it looped back into the goal.

Spain international Fabregas, 23, had just been finding his form having returned late after reaching the World Cup final.

With Theo Walcott, Robin van Persie and Nicklas Bendtner all still sidelined, the loss of another key man was another blow.

Wenger, though, cannot yet put a timeframe on Fabregas' likely recovery and is awaiting test results.

Speaking to Arsenal TV Online ahead of tomorrow's Carling Cup third-round tie at Tottenham, Wenger said: "We don't know yet. It is difficult to say.

"He has a hamstring problem but, I can't tell how long he will be out for.

"Any speculation would be wrong today because we have not had the scan."

Fabregas would not have been included in the squad tomorrow, with Wenger again set to use a combination of fringe and youth players in the Carling Cup.
