Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Welcome to The Independent's live coverage of tonight's Premier League meeting between Arsenal and West Bromwich Albion.

Arsene Wenger's side were booed off by their own supporters on Sunday following the 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace. Tonight, they may simply be pleased to see a few home fans in attendance.

As many as 20,000 seats are expected to be empty for tonight's match, due to a combination of factors.

The Gunners' slump into slugging it out over fourth place has disgruntled a lot of the Emirates faithful and some are planning to stage a walk-out in the 75th minute in order to register their annoyance with the club's board.

Thursday night Premier League football may not sound too glamorous but, on this occasion, it may be quite eventful.

38 min ARS 2-0 WBA - GOAL! It's the little Chilean again, sending a free-kick through the wall - his own colleagues Per Mertesacker and Olivier Giroud bending out of the way - and into Ben Foster's bottom right corner. The Gunners are sailing back into the top three tonight. What crisis?

HALF-TIME ARS 2-0 WBA Arsenal are two to the good and could have been four or five. McAuley hit the bar but most of the action has taken place in front of Ben Foster's goal.

Manager Arsene Wenger praised the showing of Alexis Sanchez, who continued his recent form. "We did the job in a serious way," the Frenchman said after the 2-0 victory. "We played well technically and the only regret is we should have scored more goals. The early goal helped rather than being anxious about the consequence of the result and it helped the team.It looks like Sanchez is back sharper, more confident. In the first half he was more exceptional."
