From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Deadline day signing Danny Welbeck will make his debut for Arsenal 12 days after completing his £16m move from Manchester United, as the Gunners meet the blue half of Manchester in a repeat of last month’s Community Shield.

Welbeck is joined in the Arsenal squad by Aaron Ramsey after the Welshman passed a late fitness test in an ankle injury he picked up during Wales’ 2-1 win in Andorra earlier this week. Ramsey is joined in the midfield by Mathieu Flamini, as captain Mikel Arteta only makes the bench as he returns from injury.

The pair will face former Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard, who is handed his City debut after completing a loan move to the reigning Premier League champions from his new side New York City FC.

He partners Fernandinho in midfield as Fernando has been ruled out through injury, but the bid surprise is that Yaya Toure has been left out as he needs a rest following his performance for the Ivory Coast against Cameroon on Wednesday.

James Milner and Jesus Navas are handed recalls, and will support lone striker Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko drops to the bench. Former Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna is named on the bench and will have to wait for his Emirates return, where he is also joined by ex-Gunner Samir Nasri.

Line-ups:

Arsenal: Szczesny, Debuchy, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal, Flamini, Wilshere, Ramsey, Sanchez, Ozil, Welbeck.

Manchster City: Hart; Zabaleta, Kompany, Demichelis, Clichy; Fernandinho, Lampard, Navas, Silva, Milner; Aguero
