Unai Emery used his weekend off with Arsenal not involved in FA Cup action to return to Valencia.

The Spaniard paid a visit to his former club, who were held by Getafe at the Mestalla.

The Gunners could face Valencia in the Europa League semi-finals, should they beat Napoli and Los Che negotiate their own tie with Villarreal.

But Emery was not only scouting potential future opposition, he was also keeping a close eye on summer transfer targets.

With Arsenal yet to spend lavishly since Emery arrived to replace Arsene Wenger, there are expectations this summer could see the club back their manager in the transfer market.

AS report that Arsenal are keeping a close eye on Djene Dakonam, the 27-year-old centre-back.

The Togolese has been at the heart of Jose Bordalas’ side’s remarkable challenge for Champions League qualification.

The Madrid-based outfit hold a two-point gap over Alaves, with Sevilla a further point behind and Valencia six points off the pace back in seventh.

Getafe signed the 27-year-old in 2017 from Belgian side Sint-Truidense for around £2m and appear set to make a big profit.

They may even point to his release clause of €35m (£30m), with Arsenal thought to have already made contact with the Spanish club.
