Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. He may have been crowned the best young player at the 2006 World Cup, and won the Bundesliga title with Bayern Munich in 2008, but it now appears that Lukas Podolski has finally achieved the one goal he wanted in life – meeting raunchy American pop star Miley Cyrus.
The Arsenal forward is currently recovering from injury after 'twerking' his hamstring, and aims to return before the end of the year. He met Cyrus backstage at the bizarre German TV show Wettern Dass.
Posting a picture of the pair on his Instagram page, the joyous Podolski wrote “Meet Miley Cyrus? I did it.”
It seems the 28-year-old has been using his time getting back to full fitness wisely; he was also pictured at the ATP World Tour Finals at the O2 Arena with team-mate Per Mertesacker last week.
He will now hope to go on and achieve another of his life goals before the end of this season, win a trophy with Arsenal.
