Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang insists Arsenal fans should be excited about the side’s potential this season.

The Gabonese striker hit the winner at Newcastle as Unai Emery’s side got off to a winning start, despite the Spaniard contending without the injured Alexandre Lacazette and record signing Nicolas Pepe only available to contribute from the bench.

With Mesut Ozil, Sead Kolasinac and Hector Bellerin among those also unavailable, Aubameyang believes there is plenty more to come from the Gunners in the coming weeks.

“For sure it is going to be crazy. I am sure of that,” Aubameyang claimed.

“I think everybody is excited about that. We will have time to play together and we will see.

“The next game we play at home and we will see what is the decision of the coach, but as I say I am looking forward to it.”

Aubameyang is also excited by the prospect of linking up with £72m signing Pepe and the promising early signs from training.

“I just watched [Pepe] on TV [before he joined]. I know how he plays and we have tried to connect with him in training,” he added.

“For the moment it is going good, very good.

“[When we heard Pepe was coming here] we were happy because we know he can help us to reach our goals. So it is another weapon for us and that is very, very good.”
