Not only did they see long-time No 1 and club hero Petr Cech leave for rivals Arsenal for a relatively cheap fee, they then had to read and hear Arsenal fans bleeting about it for the next 12 hours on social media.
Among the childish barbs and predictions that the Gunners were now title favourites, were a couple of genuinely funny digs.
One such dig was made by Twitter user Arsenal Gentleman who put together a 'logic and reason' test that Cech, 33, had to pass before he'd be allowed to move to the club.
