Arsenal are said to be considering a move for Lukasz Piszczek, Borussia Dortmund's right-back, to compensate for the potential departure of Bacary Sagna this summer.

The 27-year-old Polish international has reportedly been watched by Arsenal scouts on multiple occasions, at the request of Arsene Wenger, who cannot have failed to be impressed by his performances in a Dortmund side that has progressed to the Champions League final.

With Sagna, now 30 and out of contract in 2014, Arsenal are unlikely to offer him anything more than a one-year contract extension particularly given his past history of injuries.

Wenger is reportedly keen to hang onto Sagna, who provides experience as well as cover at centre-back, although this will depend on any interest in him in the summer, with Paris St-Germain and Inter Milan said to be interested in his signature.

Piszczek is under contract with Dortmund until 2016 and is valued at around £12m which would mean Wenger is unlikely to move unless Sagna is sold - particularly as the club's main summer transfer priority is a new striker.

Arsenal are also thought to be in the market for a new goalkeeper with Asmir Begovic a target, although again they are unlikely to want to meet Stoke's valuation of around £15m for the player.
