From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Many scoffed when Manchester United spent £36m on a 19-year-old that most people had never heard of.

But Anthony Martial is making a quick impact at his new club, scoring on his debut against Liverpool and then again on his first Premier League start in the game against Southampton.

Both goals have been of real quality. His first against Liverpool came after a jinking run through the defence of United's bitter rivals. The second at St Mary's saw the teenager take a lovely touch inside the box before unleashing his shot, a goal of real composure.

Whilst two goals in two Premier League games is an impressive stat in itself, Martial's second goal came from just his second shot on target in a Manchester United shirt.

His latest goal levelled the score at St Mary's. Follow the match live here.
