Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Despite playing most of the second-half against 10 men, after the shock sending off of Steven Gerrard, United were on the ropes for a period at Anfield, as Liverpool chased an equalising goal.
British record signing Di Maria, who came on 10 minutes into the second-half, was 'berated' after the victory, according to the Manchester Evening News, plunging his cloudy Old Trafford future into further doubt.
The £59.7million has struggled since an attempted burglary at his home in January and was hauled off early in successive matches against Sunderland and Newcastle.
Speaking after the game Van Gaal hinted that certain players (he didn't name any names) had not pulled their weight in the second-half.
"In the second-half everything is changing because of [Gerrard's] red and then we are not anymore playing like a team," he said.
"We are running with the ball, unnecessary losses of the ball, so that was not so good."
