Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The 26-year-old scored a brilliant header to hand the Hammers a 2-1 win at Upton Park.
On Sunday night the former England striker was dining with friends at Roka when a row ensued during which his security guards had to intervene.
Some reports suggest that wine was thrown, based on a Tweet by onlooker Paige Waller - although she later cleared up that her words were not to be taken literally.
An unnamed onlooker told The Sun: “A man, who was in a group of Chelsea fans, tried to go up and kiss him, which led to a skirmish.
“Carroll hadn’t even had food or a drink at that point when the hammered geezer started giving him s***.”
An anonymous member of staff also spoke to the paper, confirming the incident.
"It happened between 5pm and 5.30pm as they were sitting down to eat," they said. "His personal security guards broke up the fight."
Police did not have to be called to the scene.
