From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. Goalkeeper Manuel Almunia has said he would reluctantly consider his Arsenal future if boss Arsene Wenger signs another senior goalkeeper before the transfer deadline.

Almunia is currently Wenger's first choice between the posts, although that status has been undermined by the club's interest in Fulham's Mark Schwarzer while Manchester City's Shay Given has also been linked to the Gunners.

Spaniard Almunia, 33, has made over 100 appearances since joining Arsenal in 2004 and captained the team in the 1-1 draw at Liverpool on Sunday.

Almunia is keen to remain in north London, but admits should another goalkeeper arrive at the club then he would reassess his options.

"If somebody comes in, I will have to talk about my future at Arsenal. That is it. I cannot talk now, because the talking would be for nothing," he told the Evening Standard.

Almunia said he was unlikely to remain in England should he opt to move on, while also claiming a return to his homeland would be problematic.

"I don't see anything else outside of Arsenal," he added.

"It will be very difficult to play for another team in England if it wasn't Arsenal. Spain would also be difficult.

"But I am 33 years old and only have a few more years left in football. I would like to enjoy them. I am a keeper who enjoys playing."
