From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. Sergio Aguero's agent claims he knows nothing about Manchester United's supposed interest in the Atletico Madrid striker.

Speculation is rife that United are set to use some of the £80m they are due to receive from the sale of Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid to sign Aguero, while Chelsea, Barcelona and Inter Milan are also said to be interested.

Reports suggest United are preparing a 52 million euro (£44m) offer, eight million less than the Argentina international's buy-out clause which Atletico president Enrique Cerezo insists any club will have to meet to persuade them to even think about selling.

However, Jose Segui believes it would still be difficult to prise Aguero away from the Primera Division side.

"I have no information about this offer from Manchester United," Segui told Calciomercato.it. "I have not been contacted by anyone, nor by other teams.

"I have not read president Cerezo's comment, the only thing I can say with certainty is that the player wants to stay at Atletico.

"Inter? I have not had any conversations with them.

"Honestly, I don't know if Atletico have met other clubs."
