One point from three games, two goals scored and nine conceded, a captain deemed unfit to train and a home debut marked by a mob of angry fans gathering outside the main entrance. Even when he said he knew it would be tough, it is probably not what he had in mind.
He says he has not yet reached the stage of having sleepless nights as he tries to find a way to keep Wolves in the Premier League but he might not get the chance, according to some reports claiming that the club's chairman, Steve Morgan, having put Mick McCarthy's former assistant in charge for the remainder of the season, is having second thoughts.
Morgan spoke to a group of supporters as he left on Saturday evening, shortly after the Wolves midfielder, Jamie O'Hara, complained that he and his family had been "surrounded" as they made their way towards their car.
Steve Kean's Blackburn had begun the day level on points with Wolves but it seemed the only way in which they were equal. Sloppy defending handed Blackburn the advantage and when Junior Hoilett finished a breakaway move with his second goal midway through the second half there would be no recovery.
"It hasn't got the stage where I'm waking up in a sweat yet," Connor said. "I'm certain the players are good enough to stay up. You just have to hold your nerve." It is a message, perhaps, the chairman should heed.
