Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Gunners had clinched the Women's Super League, which is in its second season, on Saturday when Birmingham could only draw 2-2 with Bristol Academy.
But Laura Harvey's side put on a show for their fans against Rovers, going ahead in the first half when Lyndsey Cunningham put through her own net.
Aine O'Gorman's spectacular long-range drive levelled the scores just four minutes later but another own goal, this time from Tanya Oxtoby, restored Arsenal's advantage. Substitute Kelly Smith extended the lead late on, firing home after Kim Little had set her up.
Leandra Little's late consolation for Rovers was never going to spoil the party for Arsenal, who have now won 37 major trophies in 25 years.
And there may be more silverware to polish before long with Arsenal to face Birmingham in the League Cup final in nine days' time.
There is also the matter of the Champions League, a competition Arsenal won in 2007. Arsenal kicked off their campaign last week with a 3-0 victory over Barcelona.
