The Second Division club are set to offer £200,000 for the former Scotland international. Winters may take the opportunity to move now rather than join a queue of players looking for a new club in the summer. Wimbledon are also keen on signing Winters, though Stoke are a potentially bigger club and manager Gudjon Thordarson has money to spend to recruit the right players. If registered in time, Winters could make his Stoke debut in Friday's televised match against their promotion rivals Brighton.

Bradford City have signed Danny Cadamarteri on a three-and-a-half year contract.
