LA Galaxy fans are understandably excited about the arrival of Steven Gerrard but they may have to think twice before displaying that enthusiasm with a replica shirt.
The Liverpool captain is set to join the MLS side at the end of the season and his new club have confirmed he will wear the No 8 shirt - the same number he wears at Anfield.
The announcement coincided with pre-order sales being taken for replica shirts featuring Gerrard's name and number on the back, however the price could leave some fans reeling.
The top-spec long-sleeve shirt is on sale at $204.99 - or £134. Shorten the sleeves and one can be had for the not much more reasonable $174.99 – or £114.
Perhaps in light of the steep price-tag, the sales blurb does the best it can at convincing LA Galaxy fans to part with their dollars.
"Wear the newest addition to the Galaxy squad with this Steven Gerrard Authentic Primary Jersey from adidas. The details of jersey symbolize the energy and nonstop motion of LA, while the eleven individual stripes symbolize the Starting XI players and completes the traditional sash. The new kit’s neck tape displays the traditional LA quasar, also featured in the lenticular crest. “This Is LA”, a fan-inspired team slogan, appears on the jock tag."
