Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Rushbury, who took over the managerial reins when Nicky Law and Ian Banks joined Bradford City, has been offered an 18-month contract. The Saltergate side's chairman, Ian Yeowart, said: "We feel Dave is in the best position to take the club forward at the present time. We face a real challenge over the next three years while we pay off the creditors, and we believe Rushbury will best be able to successfully manage all aspects of the footballing side."
Grimsby Town have signed two Charlton Athletic players, the defender Andy Todd and the Swedish striker Martin Pringle, on a month's loan.
The Watford striker Marcus Gayle is set for a reunion with his former manager at Wimbledon, Joe Kinnear, at the Third Division promotion-chasers Luton Town.
Kinnear, the Hatters' manager, said: "I would dearly love to bring Gayle here – I think he would be sensational. He has all the attributes you want."
