Redknapp fury at gatecrashers

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. The Portsmouth manager, Harry Redknapp, has threatened to sack four of his club's young players over their behaviour after the FA Cup final.
The unnamed players did not feature in the win over Cardiff at Wembley a fortnight ago but Redknapp was unhappy with their drinking amid the team's celebrations.
Redknapp said: "These four lads didn't play in the final, but they couldn't even put their beer down on the bus. We got back for the reception and the four of them just stood there until they were invited to go home.
"They're players at my club, but they might not be for much longer."
With the quartet all being English, Redknapp has also voiced his concerns about the cultural differences between homegrown youngsters and those from abroad. He added: "You get these 16-year-olds who think they have cracked it and aren't prepared to work and improve and put the hours in. You don't get that with the foreign lads."
Redknapp confirmed he hopes to sign Manchester City defender Richard Dunne but insists there has been no contact with Liverpool about Peter Crouch.
Dunne, 28, is expected to leave City this summer and has been linked with Newcastle and Tottenham among others, but Redknapp hopes the prospect of European football will tempt him to Fratton Park.
When asked if he is interested in Dunne, Redknapp told BBC Radio Five Live: "Very much, I like Richard Dunne. I think he's a top player but I think there's a couple of clubs in for him at the moment, but I think we've got as good a chance as anyone now. We've got in the Uefa Cup for next year and we've got some good players, so hopefully we can start to compete with the Tottenhams and Villas and teams like that."
However, Redknapp played down rumours of a move for Crouch.
"I haven't spoken to Peter. I haven't had any conversations with anyone at Liverpool so there's definitely been no contact," added Redknapp, who signed Crouch during his first spell at Portsmouth.
Redknapp balked at the suggested asking price of £15m, but reports claim the Reds may settle for £10m, to which he said: "That's getting more interesting."
