The Leicester manager, Dave Bassett, it says, will then go back to Nottingham Forest for Chris Bart-Williams.
The Express says Ajax have warned off Chelsea, Newcastle and Aston Villa from chasing the £10m-rated Dutch Under-21 midfielder Rafael van der Vaart, also a target for Liverpool and Blackburn. The News of the World says Ipswich are attempting to sign the Internazionale striker Hakan Sukur on loan for the rest of the season.
Jamie Redknapp could join Tottenham for £2m if he fails to land a new contract and a first-team place at Liverpool, according to the People, while the News of the World suggests Tottenham want the Czech striker Lukas Hartig from Sparta Prague. The Sunday Mirror links Tottenham's out-of-favour midfielder Tim Sherwood with a move to Fulham. According to the People, Milan are ready to offer the Spanish striker Javi Moreno as bait to persuade Chelsea to let them have midfielder Sam Dalla Bona. The same paper says Chelsea are ready to join an end-of-season battle with PSV Eindhoven for Barcelona's Philip Cocu.
The Mirror says Aston Villa are poised to step up their interest in West Bromwich Albion's £4m-rated left-back Neil Clement, while the People reckons Danish midfielder Christian Poulsen is likely to be the subject of a £3m bid from Middlesbrough. The Mirror says the Colombian striker Hamilton Ricard has been told he has no future at Middlesbrough and wants a move.
Manchester United were in advanced talks with Sven Goran Eriksson before the Swede accepted the England job, according to the News of the World, while the People warns that Franz Beckenbauer is also plotting to lure Eriksson to Bayern Munich, whose the manager, Ottmar Hitzfeld, is favourite to become Germany's next coach.
The People says Manchester City are looking at Barnet striker Wayne Purser, who scored a four-minute hat-trick against Havant in the FA Cup, while the Mirror believes Arsenal are still keen on the Birmingham centre back Darren Purse.
