From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.West Brom travel to Aston Villa on Wednesday in the hope that they will put the Nicolas Anelka scandal behind them and move up the Premier League table. Anelka, who denies making a gesture that was “abusive and/or indecent and/or insulting and/or improper“ is unlikely to have his case heard until February.
In the meantime, his team face Aston Villa who sit only two points ahead in the Premier League. Villa are in dire need of a win at home, with their last victory at Villa Park occurring back in September. Although West Brom have been subjected to controversy in recent weeks, their on the field form has been almost identical to Villa’s, winning only won of their last four games. Before that win on New Year’s Day, the Baggies last win came at the start of November. Although not completely safe from relegation, both teams will be hoping to solidify their position in the league with a win tonight.
