From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Superman, Batman, Action Man, Captain America, Spider Man, the Bananas in Pyjamas, Captain Jack Sparrow, Zorro, Fred Flintstone, Woody and Buzz Lightyear, Santa Claus, RoboCop, Mr T and many more…all the big names turned up for the Arsenal Christmas party as the Premier League leaders hit the streets of London in full-blown fancy dress.
Filmed by Wojciech ‘RoboCop’ Szczesny and Lukas ‘The Hulk’ Podolski throughout the night, the Arsenal squad celebrated the festive season in style as they made their way on the fancy-dress party bus towards their final destination – West-End nightclub Libertine.
It may not be the open-top bus parade that the Gunners’ faithful crave so much, but it certainly comes as a close second with many startled Londoners’ seeing the players out and about on Wednesday night.
And while the Gunners were out celebrating, their fierce rivals Tottenham were crashing out of the League Cup via the 2-1 defeat to West Ham. But by these pictures, they were clearly having too much fun to take notice.
Mesut Ozil went as Superman, perhaps in relation to his arrival at the Emirates appearing the save the Gunners from another season of mediocrity, while his midfield teammates Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey went as Batman and Rambo.
So used to having a Robin among their ranks, Lukasz Fabianski came as Bruce Wayne’s nerdy sidekick, with the last Robin to grace the Emirates currently plying his heroics at Manchester United.
‘Enforcer’ Per Mertesacker came as Captain Jack Sparrow of the Pirates of the Caribbean, although we cannot confirm if he drank all the rum, and England duo Theo Walcott and Kieran Gibbs certainly got a good laugh as everyone’s childhood favourites the Bananas in Pyjamas.
But can you work out who everyone else is? Take a look at the gallery below…
