Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The shirts which have been previously leaked, resurfaced again today.
Adidas will replace Nike as United's kit suppliers as of the start of next season after signing a £750m deal last year. The German sportswear manufacturer previously made United kits from 1980 until 1992.
The move ends Nike's 13-year association with the club.
In a crucial game to determine where in the top four United finish this season, the club take on third-placed Arsenal at Old Trafford.
Should Van Gaal's side win, they will overtake Arsenal to third with one match remaining. If they lose, however, then it'll be fourth for the team.
United then face Hull City away on the final day of the season on 24 May.
One player who will not be wearing those new United strips next season is Gareth Bale. The £85m forward has endured a tough time at Real Madrid this season but his agent says he does not expect his client to move.
