Your support makes all the difference.Martin Keown has been charged with two counts of violent conduct by the Football Association following Arsenal's match with Leeds United at the end of last season. The England defender is alleged to have clashed with Lee Bowyer and to have elbowed Mark Viduka during the game in May, which Arsenal won 2-1. If found guilty, Keown can expect a three-match ban.
Both incidents were missed by the referee, Peter Jones, but were picked up by television cameras and the FA consulted the video advisory panel of former officials, referees and managers before announcing the charges.
The 32-year-old Fabrizio Ravanelli arrived in England from Rome yesterday to put the finishing touches to a two-year contract with Derby. "I hope I do well like last time [with Middlesbrough] because the Premiership is the best league in the world to play in. I hope I can score lots of goals for Derby," the former Lazio striker said.
West Bromwich Albion have started a transfer scramble by putting the striker Lee Hughes up for sale. Andy Campbell's move to Crystal Palace from Middlesbrough has fallen through after the striker failed a medical. The clubs had agreed a fee of £1m, but following tests, the Selhurst Park club feel Campbell, 22, needs more time to recover from an operation he underwent at the end of last season. But Palace are ready to sign the Australian centre-half Tony Popovic, if he can get a work permit.
The sacked Wembley chief executive Bob Stubbs is to take legal action against Wembley National Stadium Limited, a subsidiary of the FA, claiming breach of contract.
The Dutch captain Frank de Boer's one-year ban for failing a drug test has been reduced by Uefa and he can now resume playing on 1 September, the day of the Netherlands' World Cup qualifier against the Republic of Ireland. Uefa said it was ''more than likely'' that contaminated food supplements had caused the Barcelona defender's positive test in March.
