From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Football fans rejoice, as media streaming service Veetle is to broadcast the July 22-25 New York Football Challenge live and for free, featuring four games between the New York Red Bulls, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City and Sporting Lisbon.

World Cup and UEFA Champions League winner Thierry Henry became a star at Arsenal and went on to play for Spanish side Barcelona.

His debut is to come when his new team, the New York Red Bulls, play Arsenal's London rivals Tottenham in the friendly tournament's first game on July 22 at 8:30pm EST (July 23, 00:30am GMT). Fellow Premier League contenders Manchester City then play the Portuguese team Sporting Lisbon at the same time the following day.

On July 25, Tottenham are matched up with Sporting at 1pm EST (5pm GMT) and the Red Bulls meet Manchester City at 3.30pm (7.30pm GMT).

The three European clubs are warming up for the start of their own domestic seasons, while the Red Bulls are halfway through their own - giving them the edge in terms of match fitness.

Manchester City, now one of the richest clubs in the world thanks to new owners at the Abu Dhabi United Group, have already played the Portland Timbers as part of their US tour. After the New York Football Challenge they will face Mexico's Club America in Atlanta and European champions Inter Milan in Baltimore.

Tottenham had visited the San Jose Earthquakes the week before the NY Football Challenge, using the opportunity to field both established players and youngsters ready to stake a claim for first team football.

Portugese side Sporting Lisbon started their US campaign with a match against Scottish side Celtic FC at the Boston Red Sox' Fenway Park baseball park on July 21.

The New York Football Challenge games can be seen in high quality by installing the Veetle TV app on a Mac or PC. They can also be seen online by using a Mac, PC, iPhone, iPod or iTouch to visit veetle.com/redbull.
