England's top-flight has styled itself as the best league in the world, however the humbling of Liverpool at Anfield suggested a gulf in quality between the teams from the two divisions is appearing.
Liverpool finished second in the Premier League last season but after a decent first 10 minutes, they were outclassed by their Spanish opponents in every department at Anfield with Cristiano Ronaldo and a Karim Benzema putting the visitors three goals ahead by half-time.
