The former England manager Sven Goran Eriksson is the new technical director of the United Arab Emirates club Al-Nasr, after rejecting an offer to join German Second Division club 1860 Munich.

The 64-year-old Swede, who has also managed Fiorentina, Roma, Lazio, Benfica, Manchester City, Mexico and Ivory Coast, among others, will be unveiled in his new role in Dubai today. Coached by the former Italy goalkeeper Walter Zenga, Al-Nasr are fifth in the UAE Pro-League after finishing second last year. They are also involved in a qualification campaign for the Asian Champions League.
