Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Carlton Cole, Scott Parker, Matthew Upson and Robert Green have all been linked with moves away from Upton Park. "I am confident I can keep them here," Zola said. "I don't deal with these things. I am just dealing with the players we have and I try to make them happy to stay."
Petrov says Agbonlahor will end goal drought
Aston Villa: Captain Stiliyan Petrov has backed striker Gabriel Agbonlahor to recover from his recent goal drought and help the club realise their Champions League aims. The 23-year-old has scored just once in his last seven matches ahead of today's trip to Wigan. "He keeps taking on players and holding the ball up well," Petrov enthused. "He is a great outlet for us. It's great to see someone develop like that – and it's true a lot of people forget how young he still is, too."
