Jens Lehmann could make his first Arsenal appearance in almost three years in a reserve match at Wigan tonight. The veteran German, 41, came out of retirement earlier this month to ease the Gunners' goalkeeping crisis following injuries to Wojciech Szczesny and Lukasz Fabianski, which left Manuel Almunia as the only fit senior keeper. Manager Arsène Wenger is believed to be considering Lehmann for Saturday's visit of Blackburn.
Van Nistelrooy is a target, says Kean
Ruud van Nistelrooy is the latest star name to be linked with a move to Blackburn Rovers. The former Manchester United and Real Madrid forward, 34, is out of contract at Hamburg this summer and would fit club owners Venky's designs of signing a world star, following previous failed attempts to bring Ronaldinho and David Beckham to the club. "I can confirm we are interested," manager Steve Kean said.
Early kick-offs on Cup final day
The Premier League has moved five games to 12.45pm kick-offs on 14 May to avoid clashes with the FA Cup final on the same day. The final is taking place early this year as Uefa rules do not allow usage of Wembley for a fortnight prior to the Champions League final on 28 May. Five other games will be played on 15 May.
