From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Trapattoni picked nine midfielders in a 25-man squad for the two-legged decider. Sunderland's Reid, recognised as one of his country's most creative players, has not played for Ireland since Trapattoni took charge after the team failed to reach last year's European Championship. "We performed strongly throughout the qualifying group stages," Trapattoni said. "We were undefeated in all 10 games and this squad is a reflection of how we have played. We are only 180 minutes away from qualifying for the World Cup."
Campbell keen to make switch to St James' Park after contract wrangle
Newcastle United: The former England defender Sol Campbell says he wants to join Newcastle when he resolves his contract dispute with Notts County. Campbell walked out of Meadow Lane in September blaming broken promises after playing just one game in a lucrative five-year deal. The 35-year-old centre-back is preparing to take the fourth-tier club to a Football League tribunal to force them to release him from his contract.
Campbell wants to return to action and told ESPN yesterday that Newcastle is his preferred destination. He said: "People might be surprised to hear me say that I would be very interested in a move there" as Newcastle is "a big club and could be heading back to the Premier League. It appeals to me."
