From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

The Wolves midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong is returning to Arsenal after his loan spell with Wolverhampton Wanderers was cut short by a serious knee injury that has ended his season.

The 20-year-old ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in Saturday's 2-1 win at Queen's Park Rangers. The former England youth international Frimpong suffered the same injury to his left knee in 2010.

Stoke appeal over Huth red card

Stoke City have lodged an appeal to the Football Association against Robert Huth's red card in Saturday's Premier League defeat by Sunderland.

The defender received a straight red from the referee Martin Atkinson after a tackle on David Meyler. The Stoke manager, Tony Pulis, suggested Meyler had play-acted.

Plymouth probe racism allegation

Plymouth have launched an investigation into allegations a Southend player was racially abused by a spectator during the 2-2 draw between the sides at Home Park on Saturday.

A Plymouth statement said: "We have received a number of complaints relating to crowd behaviour during Saturday's game. We are conducting a thorough investigation."
