Your support makes all the difference.The Newcastle United striker Nile Ranger has been charged with being drunk and disorderly following a night out with friends in the city. Northumbria Police officers arrested the 20-year-old in the early hours of Sunday in Newcastle's Cathedral Square.
A spokesman said he was due before Newcastle magistrates on 17 November. Police said the player, who joined the club in 2008, was questioned for more than four hours before he was charged and released on bail.
The spokesman said: "At 1.40am on Sunday, October 30, police arrested a 20-year-old man for being drunk and disorderly in the Cathedral Square area."
Frankham back as CPO chairman
The board of Chelsea Pitch Owners (CPO), from whom Chelsea failed to buy back the freehold of Stamford Bridge on Thursday, yesterday appointed Steve Frankham as their new chairman.
Frankham will replace Richard King, who resigned on Friday after a stormy meeting last week in which CPO shareholders accused him of pursuing the club's agenda in the deeply divisive bid to buy-out CPO.
Frankham was a director of CPO when it launched in 1993. He will have to be re-elected as CPO chairman by shareholders at the AGM next month.

Toure makes case to club
Manchester City met with Kolo Touré and his legal adviser yesterday to hear his version of events over the failed drugs test that saw him banned for six months. City say that the player is guilty of gross misconduct and a sanction from the club is appropriate. City executive Brian Marwood and lawyer Simon Cliff will decide on the player's punishment this week. The club are considering fining him the part of his salary paid as image rights for the six-month period.
