Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The club's manager Mark Hughes has delivered a further warning from the club that he will not tolerate the unsolicited involvement of agents as his club prepare to spend in the transfer window next month. "You will find there are a lot of people jumping into the middle of deals that involve Manchester City and announcing themselves as representing someone," Hughes said.
"We do not need to deal with any intermediaries or anyone jumping in trying to make a profit out of any business. We can do any business we like on our own, thank you very much. We do not need any help from anybody. That's our message."
Fabregas still 'committed' to Gunners
Cesc Fabregas has reaffirmed his commitment to the Gunners. The latest transfer rumour was sparked by comments he made to an Italian newspaper concerning Milan. "It is true that I said I admire Milan for their rich history and the way they play football – but that is as far as the story goes," Fabregas said. "I am honoured to be wearing the captain's armband and I am 100 per cent committed to this club. My future is here." William Gallas misses tomorrow's match against Wigan, but Kolo Touré is fit again.
Scan gives Saha hope of quick return
Louis Saha could be in action as soon as the Manchester City match on 13 December. The striker injured a hamstring in the win at Tottenham last weekend, and it was feared he could face a long lay-off. But scans have confirmed that he has only suffered limited hamstring damage, a relief for his manager David Moyes, who has Ayegbeni Yakubu out for the season with an Achilles injury while James Vaughan has had cartilage surgery.
FA turns to Arsenal again for treatment of national side's ills
The Football Association has confirmed Ian Beasley's appointment as senior doctor to the England team. It is the second time in a matter of months the FA has recruited directly from Arsenal, where Dr Beasley has been first-team doctor for the past six years, having appointed Gary Lewin as physio earlier this year. The move is in line with the Club England approach outlined in the FA's Strategic Vision. Beasley will report directly to the England general manager, Franco Baldini.
