From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The teenage daughter of Antoine Sibierski, the former Manchester City star, has been found dead.

The body of Sibylle Sibierski, 18, was discovered by police in Altrincham after they forced their way into her apartment.

Police do not believe there are any suspicious circumstances.

Reports suggest Miss Sibierski had returned to her apartment after a night out on Sunday.

A relative then phoned the police on Monday afternoon after becoming concerned about her welfare. Police officers were then forced to break into her home when they didn't get a response to their calls.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said police were called to an apartment in Altrincham at 5.40pm on Monday "following reports of concerns over the welfare of a woman."

The spokesman added: "Officers attended, forced entry and the body of an 18-year-old woman was discovered. The case has been passed to the coroner."

Her father Antoine, 35, retired from professional football at the end of last season when he was released by Wigan. He made 33 appearances for the Latics and 92 appearances for City.
