Mesut Ozil, Arsenal's record signing, has paid tribute to his manager Arsene Wenger ahead of the Frenchman's landmark 1,000th match in charge of the Gunners against Chelsea on Saturday, thanking Wenger for the "trust" he has shown in him.

Ozil, who signed for the Gunners for £42.5m on transfer deadline day from Real Madrid back in January, is currently sidleined with a hamstring problem he suffered in the 1-1 Champions League draw at Bayern Munich earlier this month.

The 25-year-old could be out for up to a month with the injury, meaning he could miss the FA Cup semi-final fixture against Wigan on 12 April.

Ozil found time to pay this tribute on his Facebook page today:"On Saturday the boss will celebrate his 1000th game at Arsenal. what a number. we couldn't imagine the Gunners without him. it was him who brought me to London. thank you for your trust! ‪#‎Wenger1000‬"
