Portugal secured a tense 1-0 victory on home soil to defeat the Netherlands and win the inaugural Nations League tournament.

The home side started the faster of the two and dominated much of the first half.

However, it wasn’t until the 60th minute that they broke the deadlock as Goncalo Guedes capitalised on a brilliant run by Bernardo Silva, thrashing home from the edge of the box.

The Netherlands came close with Memphis Depay’s close-range header forcing Rui Patricio into a fine save with the match descending into a thrilling, open end-to-end finish.

However Portugal held on to victory in Porto. Here’s our player ratings:
