Your support makes all the difference.No action will be taken after the Republic of Ireland used an “anti-English” video as motivation before their friendly against English, the Football Association of Ireland has decided.
The governing body has deemed the matter “closed” following an investigation with the explanation from manager Stephen Kenny considered sufficient enough to avoid any disciplinary measures.
The video is thought to have contained a reference to the historical differences between the two countries, including Easter Rising in 1916.
Other staff and players were part of the FAI’s investigation following the 3-0 defeat at Wembley Stadium.
"Following this development, the FAI decided it was appropriate to look into the matter. Since then the FAI has had discussions with a number of staff members and players, including the team manager, Stephen Kenny.
"The Board has accepted the explanations provided and considers that the matter is now closed."
Goals from Harry Maguire, Jadon Sancho and Dominic Calvert-Lewin saw Gareth Southgate’s side enjoy an easy night ahead of their Nations League fixtures in the latest international break.
Kenny is under pressure after a dismal start to his tenure with The Boys In Green, having failed to win any of his first eight games.
Following defeat to England, the Irish came unstuck against Wales in a 1-0 loss before a goalless draw with Bulgaria.
