Euro 2016 last 16: Who plays who in the knockout stages, where and when?
The group stages are done, eight countries are on their way home - what happens now?
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. After 13 days, 36 matches, 69 goals and a lot of confused mathematics, we are now ready for the knockout stages of Euro 2016.
Eight countries are on their way home as the European Championship prepares for it's first ever round of sixteen in this year's expanded format.
A quarter of the 16 remaining countries are made up of British and Irish representatives - the Republic of Ireland memorably making it a full house courtesy of Shane Long's late winner against Italy on Wednesday night.
Martin O'Neill's side will take on hosts France on Sunday, looking for revenge for their controversial play-off defeat ahead of the 2010 World Cup, while Wales, in their first tournament in 58 years, will face near-neighbours Northern Ireland this Saturday after topping their group.
England, runners-up to Wales, will face Iceland after an astonishing finish to Group F earlier on Wednesday.
But who else has made it through, where do they play - and when?
