From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Setanta has agreed a deal with ITV which will allow the terrestrial broadcaster to televise highlights of England's remaining away World Cup qualifiers.
Under the terms of the agreement, highlights of the games against Belarus on 15 October, Kazakhstan on 6 June 2009 and in Ukraine on 10 October will be shown on ITV shortly after the matches finish. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The news follows the controversy earlier this month when Setanta was unable to reach an agreement with ITV or the BBC for the highlights of England's first two World Cup qualifiers away to Andorra and Croatia.
Trevor East, Setanta's director of sport, said: "Setanta wants to ensure that all England fans can see the highlights of the national team playing in the key World Cup away qualifiers.
"We are pleased that we have been able to achieve this as part of our wider partnership with ITV. This agreement will enable millions of fans to watch these important football games."
The Football Association chairman, Lord Triesman, said: "I've appreciated the opportunity to discuss this matter with UK broadcasters over the last week. The FA is delighted that a deal has been reached between Setanta and ITV so that highlights of England's remaining away World Cup qualifying fixtures will be available on free-to-air terrestrial television."
Highlights of England's 4-1 win in Zagreb last week were screened by ITV more than 24 hours after the final whistle.
