Southgate’s gamble of Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge paid off, with the striker opening the scoring and the players proved far more clinical than side started
“We started sloppily and said a few things to one another at half time. We got the goals in the second half at the right time and 3-0 looks more comfortable than the game suggests. I don't get many headers but it was more about the cross, there was pace on it and I just had to guide it.”
On Southgate, Lallana said: “He has given good stability. He has not had much time with us. It's not in our hands, we just do as well as we can and tonight was a good three points.”
