The Icelandic football commentator whose reaction to his country’s late win over Austria went viral has come up with another memorable moment – and all at England’s expense.

Gudmundur Benediktsson could barely contain himself after Kolbeinn Sigthorsson gave Iceland the lead over Roy Hodgson’s side in Nice and repeated the very same shrieking that shot him to fame.

Benediktsson, who also recently lost his day job as assistant manager of KR Reykjavik, became an internet sensation after his commentary of Arnor Traustason’s late goal against Austria last Wednesday.

His reaction to Sigthorsson’s strike, which gave Iceland a 2-1 lead, was just as extraordinary – but the Sjónvarp Símans commentator did not end there.

As soon as the full time whistle blew and Iceland’s victory was confirmed, Benediktsson launched into another memorable rant.

“This is done! This is done! We are never going home! Did you see that! Did you see that! Never wake me from this amazing dream,” he shouted.

“Boo as you like England! Iceland is going to play France on Sunday. France Iceland! You can go home. You can go out of Europe. You can go wherever the hell you want,” he screamed, in an apparent reference to Brexit.

“England 1 Iceland 2 is the closing score here in Nice. And the fairytale continues.”

As mentioned by Benediktsson, Iceland will now play France in the European Championships quarter-finals at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis on Sunday.
