Jay Z, Roy Hodgson, and now the German national team. It seems that taking the Tube is all the rage these days. Here is the German team, led by the familiar face of Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker, travelling on the Metropolitan Line after training last night.

The German football federation’s website says the journey was not a PR stunt, and was done solely to “leave the British capital's notorious traffic jams behind”.

Mertesacker may have a whopping 94 international caps, but, just like everyone else, he still had to show his ticket to the inspector.
