Frank Lampard believes the feel-good factor amongst the Chelsea players from their Champions League triumph can rub off on England's bid for Euro 2012 glory.

Lampard and fellow Blues John Terry, Ashley Cole and Gary Cahill - plus stand-by player Daniel Sturridge - have been given extra time off by Roy Hodgson after the dramatic win over Bayern Munich.

They were not present when the bulk of the squad trained under Hodgson for the first time in Manchester yesterday.

Lampard said: "It's nice for the Chelsea boys because we'll go with confidence with England when we join up next week.

"England have got a strong squad and we'll go and join up with a spring in our step.

"If we can bring some of the play, the spirit, the determination - whatever it is that's won us the Champions League - into the England team then hopefully that can help this summer."

Cahill echoed Lampard's sentiments and said: "I think it sets us up with confidence because we'll be on a high.

"With three of the Chelsea boys being defenders, knowing each other's game and personality, it hopefully bodes well for us and we'd like to all play a huge part.

"The lads have been to tournaments before. I haven't, so I'm looking very much forward to going, and hopefully we can play a huge part with England."

Midfielder Scott Parker took part in the opening training session of the Hodgson era yesterday.

The Tottenham player was troubled by an Achilles problem during the latter part of the domestic season.

But he was able to participate after the squad met up to launch preparations for their Euro 2012 campaign, although the extent of his involvement was not being revealed.

Hodgson has to decide by May 29 whether he thinks Parker is fit enough to play a full part in Poland and Ukraine - the final UEFA deadline for squads to be announced.

Liverpool defender Glen Johnson and Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck sat out the 90-minute closed session in what was described as a precautionary measure.

Hodgson had the chance to address the players at their city centre base before training for the first time since he was appointed as head coach three weeks ago.

The former West Brom boss has 19 days and friendly internationals against Norway in Oslo on Saturday and Belgium at Wembley on June 2 to hone his plans for the finals.
