From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Dundee United striker David Goodwillie has been named in the Scotland squad for the friendly against the Faroe Islands.

Liverpool defender Danny Wilson and Aston Villa midfielder Barry Bannan have also won first call-ups to the full squad.

Goodwillie has scored eight goals in 11 games for United. Wilson, Goodwillie and Bannan are the only newcomers but manager Craig Levein has left out a number of regulars including Kenny Miller, Kris Boyd, Allan McGregor and Shaun Maloney.

Cardiff winger Chris Burke, Derby wide man Kris Commons and Hearts striker Kevin Kyle have all won recalls for the Pittodrie clash on Tuesday.

Recent additions to the squad such as Jamie Mackie, Cammy Bell and Matt Gilks keep their places.

Steven Whittaker and Steven Naismith are the only two Rangers players in the squad with Levein admitting he took the Ibrox club's European schedule into account.

Rangers face Manchester United at Ibrox in the Champions League eight days after the international.

Levein said: "It's quite unusual to have so many players from one club. There were seven or eight in one squad recently.

"I'm conscious those guys have played some big matches, and a lot of matches, recently.

"I have decided to give them a bit of a break but it kind of fits in with my policy for this match anyway.

"I have brought some younger ones in who have been doing well and I want to see how they fit in."

Scotland squad to face Faroe Islands in a friendly at Pittodrie on November 16:

Bell (Kilmarnock), Gilks (Blackpool), Gordon (Sunderland); Bardsley (Sunderland), Berra (Wolves), Caldwell (Wigan), Hutton (Tottenham), Whittaker (Rangers), Wilson (Liverpool); Adam (Blackpool), Bannan (Aston Villa), Burke (Cardiff), Commons (Derby), Dorrans (West Brom), Fletcher (Manchester United), Morrison (West Brom); Goodwillie (Dundee United), Kyle (Hearts), Mackie (Queens Park Rangers), Naismith (Rangers).
