Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

The Tottenham utility man Gary Doherty should be available for the Republic of Ireland's Euro 2004 qualifier in Georgia despite missing training yesterday with a back strain but it is not expected to keep him out of Saturday's game in Tbilisi.

Robbie Keane has yet to decide whether to rejoin the squad following the death of his father. If Keane decides not to travel to Tbilisi, he may go straight on to Albania for Wednesday's game in Tirana. The West Brom striker Scott Dobie has been forced to pull out of the Scotland after picking up an injury during the weekend defeat to Birmingham. Bradford's Andy Gray has been called up to replace him.

The Manchester City midfielder Kevin Horlock has withdrawn from the Northern Ireland squad to play Armenia because of a family matter. The Southampton defender Chris Baird and Ciaran Toner of Leyton Orient have been called up from the Under-21s.
