From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. Russia have chosen the former England manager Fabio Capello to take charge of the national team the country's FA said yesterday. The 66-year-old Italian, who quit as England coach in February, said he was happy to work in Russia. "It will be a wonderful adventure, as Russia is a great country," he said.

Capello will succeed Dick Advocaat after the Dutchman's contract expired following Russia's failure to get past the group phase at Euro 2012. He will become Russia's third foreign coach in a row after Advocaat and his compatriot Guus Hiddink.

Russian media reported that the Italian is set to sign a two-year contract, with the possibility of extending it for another two years, for €10m [£7.8m] a year.
